The choir's rich
yet clear sonority
and firm yet delicate
expressiveness
made the strongest
possible impression.
On Sunday 10 March at 6pm, the Choir of Clare College, Cambridge will give a service containing a full performance of John Stainer's The Crucifixion, a magnificent oratorio composed in 1887 relating the Biblical narrative of the Passion and Crucifixion of Jesus. This will replace our usual service of Choral Evensong, and admission is free as always. We hope to see you there!
If you can't wait until then, however, then you need look no further than our CD page, where you can find a wonderful recording of the very same piece from 2004. Whether for yourself or as a gift for someone else, what a great way to celebrate the Easter season! And for full effect, why not purchase the Choir's 2001 recording of Brian Kelly's Crucifixion—the perfect listening to accompany your Passiontide celebrations this year, whatever form they may take. Both discs are available at our online shop for £10.
May you all have a blessed and reflective Lent until then.
