Celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Spitalfields Music Summer Festival, The Choir of Clare College Cambridge presents Tallis’s soaring 40-part Spem in alium alongside the work that inspired its creation, Striggio’s Ecce beatam lucem.
Joined by acclaimed cellist Raphael Wallfisch, the programme includes Giles Swayne’s anguished The Silent Land for 40 voices and cello, premiered in Christ Church by Clare College Choir almost 20 years ago.

Raskatov's 'Green Mass'
The Choir of Clare College, Cambridge, augmented with 20 recent Clare Choir alumni, will join the London Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Vladimir Jurowski to perform the world première of Alexander Raskatov's 'Green Mass' in London's Royal Festival Hall, with a stellar line-up of soloists, including Iestyn Davies and Mark Padmore. The concert commences with Beethoven's 6th Symphony (Pastoral) at 7.30pm and concludes with Raskatov's 'Green Mass' after the interval.
