‘In peace’
The Choir of Clare College, Cambridge and conductor Graham Ross explore the theme of peace across the centuries, and how composers have responded to it in their writing for voices. The programme includes serene English works by Tye, Sheppard, Tavener and Rodney Bennett, as well as Scotsman James MacMillan’s superb recent setting of the Miserere, Estonian Arvo Pärt’s timeless Spiegel im Spiegel for violin and piano, and Pēteris Vasks’s Plainscapes, a stunning evocative meditation for wordless chorus, violin and cello of the landscapes of the composer’s native Latvia.
